The three tools answer three different questions. Picking the right one saves you a wasted run.
Role Match — "Does this resume fit this job?"
Inputs: one resume + one job description.
Use it when: you are tailoring for a specific application and want to know which requirements your resume supports and which it does not.
Output: an overall fit score with area-by-area evidence and missing requirements.
Job Match — "Which of my two resumes fits this job better?"
Inputs: two resumes + one job description.
Use it when: you have two versions (for example, a rewrite and the original) and one posting to decide between them.
Output: which resume is the stronger fit for that job, and why.
Compare Resumes — "Which of my two resumes is better, period?"
Inputs: two resumes, no job description.
Use it when: you want to know which version scores better on ATS compatibility, keywords, and content quality in general — not for a specific posting.
Output: side-by-side scores showing where each version wins.
One more distinction
The Resume Analyzer evaluates a single resume without a job description — it reviews the resume on its own. Add a job description only when you want match-style findings; use Role Match for that.
