Role Match

Understanding Your Role Match Score

What Role Match measures against a job description, how to read the breakdown, and its honest limits.

Updated: Sep 17, 2026Help Center

Role Match compares one resume against one specific job description and shows how well the resume supports that role's requirements.

What the breakdown shows

  • Overall fit — a single number summarizing how your resume lines up with this job.
  • Area-by-area findings — where the resume supports the requirements and where it does not, with the evidence found in your resume.
  • Missing requirements — what the job asks for that your resume does not show.

How to use it

Treat it as a gap list, not a grade. A requirement showing as missing means the tool could not find evidence for it — either you have not written it down, or it is phrased in a way the match did not recognize. Decide which one it is before editing anything.

What it does not do

  • It does not know whether a claim is true — you control accuracy.
  • It does not predict whether an employer will shortlist you.
  • It matches against the job description you paste in. A different posting for the same title can produce a different result, because the requirements genuinely differ.

Related tools

  • Use Job Match when you have two resume versions and one job.
  • Use Compare Resumes when you have two resumes and no specific job in mind.
